Karon Beach, Phuket

The beach town surrounding Karon Beach is one of the friendliest places in Phuket. The beach itself is gorgeous, with a large expanse of white sand giving way to crystal blue waters. Waves roll in gently, and the area offers some great snorkeling and diving.

Walking or jogging the entire length of Karon Beach can be somwhat of a quest. Located on the west coast of Phuket and just a 10-minute drive to Patong, you would think that Karon Beach would be very crowded, however the length of the beach ensures there is enough room for everyone and always seems uncrowded.

Phuket Temples - Wat Suwankhirikhet

Karon Temple is not as famous as some of the others in Phuket but is nonetheless awe-inspiring and beautiful. Just about every community will have its own temple, but few can boast the architectural beauty of Karon temple. The first thing a visitor will notice is the two massive snakes that guard the entrance and snake their way around the temple.

In addition to the snakes, there are a great many Buddha figures and other characters from Buddhist mythology. The temple is only a half kilometre away from the beach, perfect for those staying near Karon Beach. There is also a market held twice a week just outside the temple, offering delicious snacks and food at great prices.
